Carol C., our “Life Skills Tutor Supervisor” at Washington House is no stranger to our STARS since she’s been teaching them since 1985. Carol is working diligently with the "Life Skills Tutors" to make sure that our resident STARS receive the training, supervision, help, and independence they need. She has been helping to plan daily schedules, developing operating procedures, enlisting volunteer help and a myriad of other tasks. These are big jobs!
Carol has a background that makes her well-suited for this position. She’s been married to Kevin for 27 years and has 7 children. She has a B.A. in Special Education from Western Illinois University and was a teacher of disabled students from 1981-1984. Since 1985, she has been teaching STARS at College Church. She knows the STARS well, is very sensitive to their individual needs and enjoys working and playing with them. Carol also authored an adaptive Sunday School curriculum which was published in 2001 by Faith Alive Christian Resources.
