The delights of the scrumptious food was only exceeded by the warm hospitality of the residents and staff of Washington House at the Open House on Sunday, Oct. 2nd. Gary, John, Tim, and David proudly showed their rooms to visitors who munched on crock pot wieners, nacho dip, brownies and cookies (and more) prepared by them. With an estimated 200 visitors, the Open House was a bustling and festive occasion.

Guys Learning New Skills
David, Tim, John, and Gary are enjoying living together and are learning new skills at the same time. They help with grocery shopping and cook their own dinners. All have chores around the house such as mowing the lawn, setting or clearing the table, washing the dishes, and cleaning the bathroom. Some days are more fun than others!
Week One: Four Guys Having a Blast!
Our four STARS residents (Gary, David, John, and Tim) are all moved in to Washington House and have completed their first week of living together. So far, they are having a blast! Of course, we know this is their "honeymoon" period and many challenges lie ahead, but each one is enjoying the supportive independent living arrangement and are becoming better friends each day.
Life Skills Tutor Supervisor Hard at Work
Carol C., our “Life Skills Tutor Supervisor” at Washington House is no stranger to our STARS since she’s been teaching them since 1985. Carol is working diligently with the "Life Skills Tutors" to make sure that our resident STARS receive the training, supervision, help, and independence they need. She has been helping to plan daily schedules, developing operating procedures, enlisting volunteer help and a myriad of other tasks. These are big jobs!
